Kia Niro Hybrid in Lee on Solent, Hampshire
The Kia Niro Self-Charging Hybrid never needs charging, delivering a hybrid driving experience with no fuss. The 1.6 GDi petrol engine is paired with a 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery and a small electric motor. It kicks out 139bhp and starts silently on electric power, delivering supreme refinement and low running costs (up to 58.9mpg combined). It automatically switches between petrol and electric power or uses a combination of both.
‘2’, ‘3’, Connect and ‘4’ trim grades are available, Standard features include Smart Cruise Control, 10.25” navigation and a reverse camera (Connect), wireless charging, black leather seats, heated seats and a heated steering wheel (‘3’), and LED bi-function headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outer seats, blind spot detection, a JBL sound system and a powered, tilt and slide sunroof (‘4’).
Design
Rugged SUV styling and a jacked-up ride give the Niro big kerb appeal, while a high-tech cockpit with 10.25” navigation and a powered sunroof (‘4’ grade) impresses. ‘4’ models also get LED headlights and a powered memory driver’s seat.
Drive
The self-charging hybrid technology is very clever. When you set off, it starts and drives at low speeds in electric mode, booting up the petrol engine when needed. It’s powerful and smooth, with a DCT gearbox and an electric handbrake (Connect).
Practicality
The 382-litre boot is big enough for weekends away and all models have Smart Key for keyless access. Standard driving aids include Lane Keep Assist, Lane Following Assist, Smart Cruise Control, Rear Parking Sensors and a reversing camera.
Living with it
With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, voice control, heated front and rear outer seats, leather upholstery and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, the Niro Self-Charging Hybrid has all the features you want.
